Losing Away
This song was basically one giant complaint about my first vocal coach, as my voice seemed to get worse rather than better - partly due to incorrectly thinking I was a bass and training me as such.
Richard used to write 30 second snippets of songs and bring them into our practice sessions and we would listen to them, pick the ones we liked and flesh them out into songs. From memory this one was called “Maiden Riff 3”, and as you can hear, has a bit of an Iron Maiden sound to the guitar work.
Lyrics
Gripping on too tight, it’s holding back my mind
If I’d learned first time I wouldn’t be in such a grind
And is this right or wrong? Can someone lead the way?
Show me what to do, but don’t lead me astray.
I can make it, just gotta try.
But I can’t fake it, when I get that high!
I can make it, just gotta try.
But I can’t fake it, when I get that…
What I wanted to be, is what I was before
He should have recognised me, then I wouldn’t be so sore.
This is wrong not right, is what he used to say
My own stupidity, I was losing away!
I can make it, just gotta try.
But I can’t fake it, when I get that high!
I can make it, just gotta try.
But I can’t fake it, when I get that…
I’ve gotta find my way, but it’s not easy. I can do it if I try.
High, high, high!
I can make it, just gotta try.
But I can’t fake it, when I get that high!
I can make it, just gotta try.
But I can’t fake it, when I get that…
